Ocean Forcing on Titicaca Lake Water Volume

چکیده
The time series of water level Titicaca Lake (TL) was compared to the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) and El Ni?o/Southern (ENSO) indexes between 1914 2014 1969 2014, monthly daily, respectively. Results indicate TL decreased (increased) during positive (negative) PDO phases. ENSO phase results were similar. Positive phases yielded negative (positive) precipitation anomalies concomitant decrease (increase) level. These long-term relationships among levels both oceanic can be useful prognostic.

متن کاملMercury concentrations of fish, river water, and sediment in the Río Ramis-Lake Titicaca watershed, Peru.
This study reports the first set of data on the concentration of mercury in muscle tissue of several varieties of fish from Lake Titicaca, including the pejerrey (Basilichthyes bonariensis), the carachi (Orestias), and 2 types of indigenous catfish (Trichomycterus). Approximately 27% of the pejerrey and 75% of the carachi exceeded the US EPA fish tissue-based water quality criterion level of 0....
متن کاملSymbolic landforms created by ancient earthworks near Lake Titicaca
Interesting landforms created by an ancient network of earthworks are shown, using Google satellite imagery enhanced by an image processing. This network covers a large part of the land near the Titicaca Lake. Satellite images clearly display the slopes of hills criss-crossed with terrace walls and the surfaces of the plains covered with raised fields, indicating that this was once a highly pro...
